The maker's update promise and the period declared on the EU label's product sheet, side by side. They are not the same thing; the difference is explained below.
What the maker promises on its own page: so many years of OS and security updates, or so many major Android versions. Most makers count from the model's launch; the details are on their page.
The product information sheet (EPREL) of a phone sold in the EU declares the minimum number of years the maker will supply OS updates. That period starts when the model stops being sold in the EU, and since 20 June 2025 the legal minimum is five years. It is a floor, not a promise.
Some makers give years, others a number of major versions. We do not convert one into the other: each row shows which the maker states. Apple publishes no number, so iPhones carry only the EU label's period.

Values are read from the makers' product and support pages and from the EU's EPREL database; each product's own page links its source. In the last column, where the maker states an exact end date (as Samsung does) that date is shown with its source; years marked "~" are computed only for promises stated in years, by adding the promised years to the release year, and are not the maker's date. We do not test devices ourselves.
