Six updates on a €167 phone — what is the catch?
The hardware. You get long software support and an AMOLED screen, but a 90 Hz refresh rate, no 4K video, a mono speaker and a chip two generations behind. Samsung is selling longevity, not performance.
A17 or a Redmi at the same price?
A Redmi 15 gives you a 7,000 mAh battery and a 144 Hz screen for similar money; the A17 answers with six OS updates against four, OIS on the main camera and an AMOLED panel. It is the same A-series trade, one tier lower.
Is 90 Hz noticeable after 120 Hz?
Slightly, in scrolling. It is a clear step up from 60 Hz and a small step down from 120 Hz — in this price band the bigger everyday difference is the AMOLED panel itself, which most rivals do not offer.
