FAQ

The most common questions about this product

What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the Hisense OLED A85Q?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the Hisense OLED A85Q: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
Why is the contrast figure so much higher than a Mini LED's?
Because there is no backlight to leak. On this panel each pixel makes its own light and can switch off completely, so Hisense states 150000:1 where its Mini LED sets state 2000:1 to 6500:1 and lean on dimming zones to close the gap.
Which inputs take 120 Hz?
The third and the fourth. Hisense lists all four as HDMI 2.1 with auto low latency mode; the first two carry variable refresh at 60 Hz, the third adds eARC and 120 Hz, and the fourth carries 120 Hz without eARC.
Is the sound enough?
It is the weak point. Hisense states 2 x 15 W with Dolby Atmos decoding and no subwoofer, which is less than the U-series Mini LED sets below it carry. A soundbar over eARC on the third input is the obvious answer.
