What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the TCL P8K?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the TCL P8K: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
What does it add over the P7K?
Three things: 4K at 144 Hz instead of 60 Hz, FreeSync where the P7K answers no, and a 15 W subwoofer on a 2.1-channel array against the P7K's plain stereo pair. Colour, brightness and the HDR format list are the same on both.
Is 144 Hz useful without a PC?
A PS5 or Xbox tops out at 120 frames a second, and this panel accepts that with room to spare. The 144 Hz figure is what a PC can use; FreeSync is what keeps either of them from tearing.
Does the backlight dim locally?
TCL states a direct-LED backlight and publishes no local dimming row for this family. The contrast comes from the panel and the processing, not from switching zones of the backlight — the C and X series above it are where that begins.
