What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the TCL C855?
The Kacbu decision box currently says WAIT for the TCL C855: either the model has been on the market long enough that a successor may be near, or owner data is weak. The reasons are in the decision box at the top of this page.
What does a 2.1.2 array mean here?
TCL writes it out: two main channels of 10 W and 5 W each, a 20 W subwoofer, and two 5 W up-firing drivers for the height channels Dolby Atmos uses. That is 60 W in total, and the up-firing pair is what most televisions at any price leave out.
3,300 nits or 700?
Both, and they measure different things. 700 nits is what TCL states as typical brightness across the screen; 3,300 nits is the peak a small highlight reaches in an HDR scene. The 1,344 dimming zones are what let it push that far without lifting the black around it.
How does it compare with the C8K?
The C8K of 2025 states 4,500 nits peak and a newer panel; the C855 has more sizes reaching 98 inches, the same IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision IQ, and is sold in Türkiye where the C8K's markets differ. Check the table on each page for your own market.
