What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the TCL C645?
The Kacbu decision box currently says WAIT for the TCL C645: either the model has been on the market long enough that a successor may be near, or owner data is weak. The reasons are in the decision box at the top of this page.
2,040 zones but no local dimming?
Both rows are TCL's own. Micro dimming works on the image in software across zones of the picture; local dimming switches groups of backlight LEDs. TCL states 2,040 micro-dimming zones and answers no to local dimming, and Kacbu prints both rather than merging them into a number that would flatter the set.
What does 1440p at 120 Hz mean for a console?
It is the highest variable-refresh mode TCL states — a PS5 or Xbox can run 120 frames a second at 1440p, but not at 4K. At 4K the panel is 60 Hz. TCL also lists FreeSync, which the P and A lines below it do not carry.
Is a 2023 model still worth it?
Its format list is complete and its contrast is high for the tier, which is why it is still on the shelf. What it lacks against the 2024 C655 is Bluetooth 5.4 and the wider colour figure; what it has that the C655 lacks is FreeSync and the stated dimming zones.
