Studio Calibrated modes and CalMAN measurement, as on the flagship
Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode for a PlayStation 5
Things to consider
Two sizes only, 55 and 65 inches
Variable refresh on HDMI 3 and 4 only, and HDMI 3 carries eARC
A 120 Hz panel, where LG's OLEDs accept 165 Hz

Official launch details

Instead of tracking today's retail price, Kacbu keeps the product's official launch information as a reference.

ReleaseJanuary 1, 2025

The start of the initial sales period.

FAQ

The most common questions about this product

What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the Sony BRAVIA 8 II?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the Sony BRAVIA 8 II: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
What is Acoustic Surface Audio+?
Sony vibrates the OLED panel itself to make sound β€” the sheet states two actuators and two subwoofers, 15 W + 15 W + 10 W + 10 W. A voice on screen comes from the mouth that is speaking rather than from below the picture.
How does it compare with the BRAVIA 9 II?
The 9 II is an LCD with local dimming, goes to 115 inches and carries 80 W of sound. The 8 II is the OLED: perfect blacks, two sizes, and the panel as the speaker. Processor, HDR formats and the HDMI story are the same.
Which HDMI input should a console use?
The fourth, if a soundbar has the third. Sony states variable refresh for HDMI 3 and 4 only, and eARC on the third.
