Should you buy the Hisense ULED U8K?
The Kacbu decision box currently says WAIT for the Hisense ULED U8K: either the model has been on the market long enough that a successor may be near, or owner data is weak. The reasons are in the decision box at the top of this page.
Is it Mini LED or DLED?
Both words are Hisense's. The type row and the page title say Mini-LED, and the backlight row says DLED — direct-lit, which describes where the lights sit rather than how small they are. The zone count settles it in practice: 1008 zones is a Mini LED grid, and no edge-lit panel reaches it.
How bright does it get?
Hisense states 500 nits and a maximum of 1500 nits. The first is what the panel holds across a full screen, the second a highlight for a moment, and Kacbu keeps the two apart on every page in this category.
What does the 2.1.2 array add?
Height. Hisense writes the amplifier as 2 x 15 W for the main channels, 20 W for the subwoofer and 2 x 5 W firing upward — 60 W in total. Those upward drivers are what Dolby Atmos encodes and what most televisions leave to a soundbar.
