Should you buy the Kirin 9030?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the Kirin 9030: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
How is it different from the Kirin 9030 Pro?
The Pro has one extra performance core β€” nine cores and 14 threads against the 9030's eight and twelve β€” at the same clocks, with the same Maleoon 935 GPU. Higher Mate 80 trims carry the Pro; some Mate 80 Pro configurations use the standard 9030.
Why are the clock speeds so low?
SMIC fabricates the chip with DUV lithography and multi-patterning because EUV machines cannot be exported to China. That caps density and clocks; Huawei compensates with SMT, its own GPU and tight software integration rather than peak frequency.
