Great choice if these matter:
  • Daily Use
  • Gaming

Watch out for:
  • Still trails Snapdragon and Dimensity parts in the same price bracket on raw benchmarks.
  • Used only in Galaxy phones, so third-party game optimisation is narrower.

Main risks
  • Still trails Snapdragon and Dimensity parts in the same price bracket on raw benchmarks.
  • Used only in Galaxy phones, so third-party game optimisation is narrower.
  • Samsung publishes no cache sizes or TDP figure.
  • Exynos parts have historically run warmer than equivalent Snapdragons under sustained load.
The risk level is computed from the release date, verified weaknesses and real owner reports. The confidence score only appears once real owner data exists.

Editorial Analysis

Strengths and points to consider

Compiled by the Kacbu editorial team from spec sheets, independent press reviews and reported user feedback.

Strengths based on the specs
Cortex-A720 cores, a generation newer than the Cortex-A78 designs in the Exynos 1480 and many rivals.
Xclipse 540 graphics with four RT cores β€” hardware ray tracing in the midrange.
Samsung cites up to 37% more GPU performance while drawing 20% less power than the previous generation.
A 6K MAC NPU for on-device AI features.
4nm manufacturing at Samsung's own foundry.
Things to consider
Still trails Snapdragon and Dimensity parts in the same price bracket on raw benchmarks.
Used only in Galaxy phones, so third-party game optimisation is narrower.
Samsung publishes no cache sizes or TDP figure.
Exynos parts have historically run warmer than equivalent Snapdragons under sustained load.

FAQ

The most common questions about this product

What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Should you buy the Exynos 1580?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the Exynos 1580: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
How does it differ from the Exynos 1480?
The 1580 moves to Cortex-A720 cores from the 1480's Cortex-A78 designs, and upgrades the GPU from Xclipse 530 to 540 β€” doubling the work group processors and adding ray-tracing cores. It is a genuine generational step rather than a refresh.
Does ray tracing matter on a midrange phone?
Rarely today: few mobile games use it, and those that do run it best on flagships. Its practical value here is that the same GPU generation also brings better efficiency and steadier frame rates in ordinary games.
Which phones use it?
Every phone in this catalogue carrying it is listed on this page, so you can compare them directly.
