Should you buy the Xiaomi 17 Ultra?
The Kacbu decision box currently says CONSIDER for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra: the specs hold up, but there are not yet enough real owner reports to strengthen the call. Pros, cautions and alternatives are in the decision box at the top of this page.
What makes the 75-100mm telephoto special?
It is a continuously variable optical range, not a fixed lens with crops: the 200 MP sensor physically covers 75 to 100mm equivalents. Portrait and event shooters get framing flexibility no fixed periscope offers, and the 16-in-1 binning keeps low-light usable.
Why does the EU model have a smaller battery than the Chinese one?
EU transport regulations cap the energy density of shipped cells, so Xiaomi fits a 6,000 mAh battery in Europe against 6,800 mAh in China. With the same 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, real-world endurance remains a full heavy day.
Is it too heavy for daily use?
At 218 grams and 8.29 mm it is lighter than several camera flagships but clearly heavier than a standard phone. If you are coming from something under 190 grams you will feel it, especially one-handed.
How does it differ from the Xiaomi 15 Ultra we also list?
The 17 Ultra moves to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a brighter HyperRGB panel, a larger 200 MP variable telephoto and a bigger battery with faster wireless charging. The 15 Ultra remains on sale cheaper with a fixed 100mm periscope and the previous Snapdragon.
