2 Phones models on Kacbu ship with ProRes RAW Camera Features, from Apple. Compare their specifications side by side and see what sets them apart. The newest of them arrived in 2025.
ProRes RAW is Apple's professional video format, and the two halves of the name mean two different things. RAW means recording the sensor's own data with no colour interpretation applied: white balance, exposure bias and colour decisions are not baked into the file at capture, they are made in the edit. ProRes is Apple's compression family built for editing — it makes the file light enough to play smoothly on a timeline.
Together they combine the latitude of raw data with a usable file size: you can bring back a blown-out sky or change white balance completely after the fact, and do it on a file that plays without stuttering.
The cost is storage: ProRes RAW files are many times larger than ordinary video, and on phones they usually require recording to an external drive. It is unnecessary for video shared as shot; it exists for footage that will be graded.
