Phones with Night Sight

Night Sight is Google's name for its low-light photography, associated with Pixel phones. Instead of one long exposure, the camera takes dozens of short frames in a burst, aligns them and merges them: blur from hand shake is discarded, real detail is reinforced by stacking. The result is a photo shot handheld in the dark that comes out bright and sharp.

On top of that, Night Sight applies Google's colour processing: it aims to set the white balance of a dark scene close to daylight vision and clears the sky of orange city glow. The astrophotography mode that can capture stars in dark enough scenes belongs to the same family.
