Should you buy the Xiaomi 17?

How does a 6,330 mAh battery fit a 6.3-inch phone?
Silicon-carbon chemistry stores more energy per volume than conventional lithium cells, and Xiaomi uses the gain for capacity instead of thinness. The result is a compact phone with big-phone endurance — comfortably beyond a heavy day.
Xiaomi 17 or Xiaomi 17 Ultra?
The Ultra buys the 1-inch main sensor, the 200 MP variable telephoto and the HyperRGB panel for €500 more and 27 extra grams. If camera reach is not your priority, the 17 delivers the same chip, a bigger-than-expected battery and the far more pocketable body.
Is the 60mm telephoto limiting?
For portraits it is close to ideal — 60mm with a floating element that focuses close enough for macro work. What it cannot do is distant subjects: concerts and wildlife are where the 115mm-class periscopes of the 17T Pro and 17 Ultra pull ahead.
How long will it get updates?
Xiaomi's recent global flagships carry multi-year OS and security commitments announced per region. HyperOS 3 ships on the phone; check Xiaomi's local page for the exact promise in your market before buying on longevity.
