Huawei MateBook X Pro: Specs, Pros & Cons, Alternatives

KACBU

Should I buy it?

Huawei MateBook X Pro (Core Ultra Premium Edition)

CONSIDER

Great choice if these matter:

Buyers outside the US who want the lightest premium 14-inch OLED ultrabook available
Huawei ecosystem users already invested in HarmonyOS/EMUI cross-device features
Minimalist users who live entirely on USB-C peripherals and docks

Watch out for:

No official US sale — Huawei has not sold Intel-based laptops through US retail since the 2019 US Entity List restriction, so there is no US warranty or support channel
Just three ports total, all USB-C — no HDMI, no USB-A, no card reader

Editorial Analysis

Strengths and points to consider

The Kacbu editors' assessment of the specifications the maker publishes. We do not test devices ourselves, so nothing here is a measured result. Anything taken from an independent review is shown with its publication and date in the Press section.

Strengths based on the specs

980 grams for a 14.2-inch premium ultrabook is genuinely class-leading

The 3120x2080 OLED touchscreen at 93% screen-to-body ratio is one of the best panels in the category

Aluminum-magnesium alloy construction feels premium without the weight penalty metal usually carries

A physical webcam privacy shutter, uncommon at this tier

70 Wh battery in this weight class is efficiently packaged

Things to consider

No official US sale — Huawei has not sold Intel-based laptops through US retail since the 2019 US Entity List restriction, so there is no US warranty or support channel

Just three ports total, all USB-C — no HDMI, no USB-A, no card reader

FAQ

The most common questions about this product

What the numbers on the spec sheet actually mean in day-to-day use.

Is there a 2025 MateBook X Pro?

No new generation has launched — the Core Ultra Premium Edition from April 2024 remains Huawei's current MateBook X Pro through 2025. Huawei's actual 2025 laptop news involves a differently-named model, the MateBook Pro, built around an in-house Kirin chip and HarmonyOS rather than Windows.

Can I buy the MateBook X Pro in the US?

Not through an official channel. Huawei's Intel-based laptops have not been sold through US retail since the 2019 US Entity List trade restriction, so there is no US MSRP or authorized warranty.

Can the RAM be upgraded?

No — the LPDDR5X memory is soldered to the motherboard. Choose the capacity you need at purchase.

How many ports does the MateBook X Pro have?

Three total: two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one additional USB-C port. There is no HDMI, USB-A or card reader — a dock or adapter is needed for legacy peripherals.
